Getting started with blupdf

What blupdf does

blupdf is an AI PDF editor that treats a PDF the way a word processor treats a document. You open a PDF or a scan in Studio, click any block of text and retype it. blupdf reads the font, size, color and alignment of the block and renders your new text with the same properties, so the edited page looks like it came from the original author. You can also ask blupdf AI to make the change for you, fill in a form's blanks, place a signature, or have the AI write a new document from a description.

This works for two kinds of files:

• Digital PDFs - files exported from Word, Google Docs, InDesign, invoicing tools, browsers and similar software. The text is already in the file; blupdf extracts it and groups it into editable blocks.
• Scanned PDFs and photos - pages that are pictures of text. blupdf recognises the text and rebuilds the page as a real document, then treats it like any other PDF. PNG, JPG and WebP images are accepted directly.

Create your account

1. Open the sign-in page and continue with your Google account. There is no separate password.
2. Your account starts with 1,000 free credits. No card is required, and the free credits do not expire.
3. You land in Studio, the one place where every job starts.

If you sign in with a Google Workspace account, the blupdf account belongs to you, not to the organization.

Studio

Studio asks one question: what would you like to do? Drop a PDF to edit, fill in or sign it, or describe a document and blupdf AI writes it. The four starts under the box (Create with AI, Edit a PDF, Fill in a form, Sign a PDF) are shortcuts onto the same two paths. Your recent documents are listed below the box; the full library is on the Documents page.

How editing works

   Open

   Drop a PDF, a scan or a photo into Studio, or click the box to pick one. blupdf reads the file, checks it against your plan's page and size limits, and opens it on the same page. Digital pages are parsed straight away; a scanned page is recognised when you first reach it in the editor.

   Click a text block

   Every paragraph, heading, table cell and label is a block. A thin outline shows the block under the pointer; click to select it and the text toolbar appears.

   Retype

   Type your new text in place. blupdf keeps the font, size, color and alignment of the original block and re-wraps the text inside the block's box. If the original font is not in the file, blupdf picks the closest match from its library of 35 families.

   Download

   Choose Download, pick PDF, DOCX, JPG or PNG and a file name. In the PDF the new text is real, selectable text, so the file stays searchable.

Edits save automatically as you work; the Save button in the top bar reads Saved when nothing is pending. Undo and redo (⌘Z and ⌘⇧Z, or Ctrl on Windows) step through your changes.

Credits in one minute

blupdf charges credits for work done, not for seats or per-file fees:

A five-page scan with 300 typed characters costs 400 + 300 = 700 credits. The mechanics are explained in Credits & billing; the plans are on the pricing page.

Free plan limits

The free plan is meant for real work on real documents, with two limits:

• 10 pages per document
• 10 MB per file

Paid plans raise both limits (up to 1,000 pages and 500 MB on Business) and add monthly credit pools.

On a phone

blupdf works in a phone browser. The editor shows a bottom bar with Select, Text, Signature, zoom and More; pinch to zoom; tapping a block zooms it to a readable size and docks the text toolbar above the keyboard. Ask AI opens blupdf AI as a sheet.
