Editing with blupdf AI
Ask blupdf AI to change a PDF in plain words: names, dates, amounts, wording or looks. Totals recompute, number styles stay, edits land in the original font.

blupdf AI is the assistant inside the editor. Instead of finding and retyping each block yourself, you say what should change and it makes the edits in place, in the original font, size and color, exactly as if you had typed them. It reads the document as rows of text, top to bottom, so it understands that a date, a description and an amount on one line belong together.
Opening the panel
Click Ask AI in the top bar (the sparkle button in the bottom bar on a phone). The panel opens beside the pages with two tabs: blupdf AI, the conversation, and Fill in, the document's blanks (see Filling in forms). On a phone the panel is a sheet.
Asking for a change
Type what you want in the box and send it. Requests that work well:
- "Change the name to John Smith" - every occurrence, everywhere in the document.
- "Make the total $1,250.00" or "set the rent to 1,800".
- "Move the due date to 30 October 2026".
- "Remove the second address" - the cell is emptied, the layout stays.
- "Make the heading bold", "center the title", "make the notice red".
- "Add a 20% discount to the order" - the discount line and the totals follow.
blupdf AI returns a short reply and the list of changes it made, and the pages update as you watch. Every change is an ordinary edit: click any block afterwards to adjust it by hand, press ⌘Z to step back, or use Undo all under the reply to reverse the whole request at once.
What it changes and what it leaves alone
- It changes only what you asked for, wherever that occurs, and nothing else on the page. It never rewrites the document.
- When a request could mean two places (two addresses, two names), it changes the one that belongs to the person the document is about or addressed to, not the sender, and says so in the reply.
- When a value is missing ("change the address" without a new address), it asks instead of inventing one, and asks again if the answer still lacks the value.
- Text inside the document is treated as content, never as instructions.
- It answers in the language you write in, whatever language the document is in.
Numbers and totals
Amounts that depend on other amounts are never typed as digits by the model. A line total, subtotal, tax, discount, running balance or "you saved" figure is written as a formula over the cells it depends on, and blupdf computes the result exactly, in the style the cell already prints: same currency sign on the same side, same thousands separator and decimals, a trailing period kept. Change one line of an order and the subtotal, tax and total follow; change a statement's opening balance and the running balance rolls through every row. Values you give ("make it $12.00") are written as you gave them.
Right-aligned columns stay right-aligned: a longer amount grows to the left rather than off the edge of the column.
Questions
You can ask a question about the document ("what is the notice period?") and the answer comes back in the reply with no change made. blupdf AI is not legal, financial or medical advice; verify anything you will act on against the page.
Cost
Each request costs 100 credits, whether it ends in changes, a question back or an answer, plus 1 credit per character of text it writes, the same as typing it yourself. A request that fails, for example because the model was unavailable, is not charged, and the panel says so. Your balance is shown in the editor.
Limits
- blupdf AI works on the document's text blocks. Scanned pages must be recognised first, which happens when you open them.
- It does not place signatures or pictures. Ask it to "sign" or "download" and the matching dialog opens instead, without a charge.
- Very long documents take longer per request. If the service is busy, wait a moment and send the request again.
Privacy
The document's text and your messages are sent to a trusted third-party AI provider only for the request you make, and are not used to train models. Details in Security & privacy and the Privacy Policy. The acceptable-use rules in the Terms apply: blupdf AI may not be used to alter records with intent to mislead.
