Credits and billing

How blupdf credits work: what each action costs, plan credits vs top-up packs, reset and spend order, running out, invoices, cancellation and refunds.

Updated 2026-08-27 · 3 min read

blupdf charges for work, not for seats. Every action that costs something — preparing a page, rendering new text, exporting, calling an AI tool — consumes credits from your account. This page explains the mechanics; the current prices are on the pricing page.

What a credit is

A credit is a unit of prepaid usage. Your account starts with 1,000 free credits; paid plans add a monthly pool; top-up packs add credits that never expire. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.

Plan credits versus top-ups

  • Plan credits arrive with each paid invoice (30,000 on Starter, 100,000 on Pro, 600,000 on Business). They reset on every invoice — unused plan credits do not roll over.
  • Top-up credits are bought once by paid-plan members (10,000 for $15, 50,000 for $59, 200,000 for $199) and never expire while your account exists.
  • Spend order: plan credits are used first, then top-up credits. That way your permanent credits are preserved for as long as possible.

Your dashboard shows both balances and the date your plan credits reset.

Running out

When your balance reaches zero, chargeable actions pause and blupdf offers an upgrade — or a top-up pack if you are on a paid plan. Nothing is charged automatically, and there is no overage billing. Your documents and edits stay exactly as they are; you can continue the moment credits are added.

Invoices, cancellation and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe. Invoices are emailed after every charge and are listed on your Billing page. You can change plan, update your card or cancel from Billing at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Purchases are final except where the problem is on our side — see the Refund Policy.

Example costs

  • Fix a typo on a 3-page digital PDF: 3 × 50 (parse) + 12 (characters) + 3 × 20 (export) = 222 credits.
  • Edit a 5-page scanned contract, 300 characters: 5 × 80 + 300 + 5 × 20 = 800 credits.
  • Replace a company name across a 40-page digital report (60 occurrences of 12 characters): 40 × 50 + 200 + 720 + 40 × 20 = 3,720 credits.

On Starter, 30,000 monthly credits therefore cover dozens of documents; the free 1,000 credits are enough to try every feature on a few real pages.
