Credits and billing

blupdf charges for work, not for seats. Every action that costs something (opening a page, recognising a scan, new text, an AI request) takes credits from your account. This page explains the mechanics; the plans are on the pricing page.

What a credit is

A credit is a unit of prepaid usage. Every new account receives 1,000 welcome credits that never expire; paid plans add a monthly pool; top-up packs add credits that never expire. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred between accounts.

Everything else is free: deleting and restyling text, undo, signatures, blank pages, deleting pages, renaming, and downloading in any format. A file that is refused for exceeding your plan's limits costs nothing, and a page that turns out to be a scan is not parsed as a digital page as well, so a scanned page costs 80, not 130.

Your balance is shown in the editor, and the blupdf AI panel states its price where you type.

Plan credits versus top-ups

• Plan credits arrive with each paid invoice: 30,000 on Starter, 150,000 on Pro, 450,000 on Business. They are reset on every invoice; unused plan credits do not roll over.
• Top-up credits are bought once by subscribers (10,000 for $15, 50,000 for $59, 200,000 for $199) and never expire while your account exists. The 1,000 welcome credits behave the same way.
• Spend order: plan credits are used first, then top-up credits, so your permanent credits last as long as possible.

Billing shows the plan, the credits available, the credits used in the last 30 days and the renewal date.

Running out

When your balance cannot cover an action, that action pauses: a new document shows "Get credits", and a blupdf AI request reports that nothing was charged. Everything already edited stays exactly as it is. Nothing is charged automatically and there is no overage billing; add a plan or a top-up and continue where you were.

Buying a plan

Choose plan on the pricing page opens Stripe Checkout. You can pay before you have an account: after payment, sign in with Google and the plan attaches to the account you sign in with. If you are already signed in, the plan attaches immediately. Plan credits are granted as soon as the first invoice is paid.

Managing your subscription

From Billing:

• Change plan switches immediately. The difference is prorated and invoiced now, and the new plan's credits are granted when that invoice is paid.
• Cancel ends the plan at the end of the current period; credits stay usable until then, and Resume undoes it before the period ends.
• Update payment method opens Stripe's secure portal.
• Invoices lists every charge with a PDF. Stripe also emails each invoice.
• Top-ups are sold to subscribers only.

If a renewal payment fails, the dashboard shows a banner asking you to update the card; the plan stays active while Stripe retries.

Refunds

Purchases are final except where the problem is on our side; see the Refund Policy. Card details never reach blupdf; Stripe handles all payment data.

Example costs

• Fix a typo on a 3-page digital PDF: 3 × 50 + 12 characters = 162 credits.
• Retype 300 characters in a 5-page scanned contract: 5 × 80 + 300 = 700 credits.
• Ask blupdf AI to change a name across a 10-page digital report (80 characters written): 10 × 50 + 100 + 80 = 680 credits.
• Draft a lease with AI, revise it twice, finish it in the editor (3 pages): 300 + 200 + 150 = 650 credits.

On Starter, 30,000 monthly credits therefore cover dozens of documents; the free 1,000 credits are enough to edit several real pages.
