AI Ask & Find-Replace
Ask your PDF and AI find & replace
Use blupdf's AI tools: ask questions answered from the document's own pages, and run AI find & replace across a whole PDF with review before anything changes.

Two tools in blupdf use AI beyond OCR and font matching: Ask answers questions about the open document, and Find & replace applies a described change across every page. Both work only when you invoke them, and both show you their output before it affects the document.
Asking questions about a document
Open the Ask panel and type a question — "What is the termination notice period?", "List every date in this contract", "Summarize section 4". blupdf sends the question together with the document's text to its AI model and returns an answer with references to the pages it came from. Click a reference to jump to that page.
Each question costs 100 credits. Follow-up questions in the same panel keep the conversation context, so "and for the renewal?" works as a follow-up.
Answers are grounded in the pages
The model is instructed to answer only from the document's content and to say when the document does not contain the answer. That makes Ask reliable for locating and summarizing what a document says. It is still an AI system: verify anything you will act on against the page it cites, especially numbers, dates and obligations. Ask is not legal, financial or medical advice.
Find & replace across pages
Choose Find & replace and describe the change in plain language or as an exact pair:
- Exact: replace
Acme Ltd.withAcme GmbH. - Descriptive: "change every 2025 delivery date to the same day in 2026", or "replace the old street address with 12 Market Street".
blupdf scans every page, proposes a list of changes — each with the page, the block, the old text and the new text — and waits. Nothing is modified yet.
Reviewing before applying
Tick or untick proposals individually, edit a proposed replacement inline, then choose Apply. Applied changes are written into the blocks in the original font, size and color, exactly as if you had retyped them by hand, and each one is a separate undo step.
A run costs 200 credits plus 1 credit per character of the replacements you apply. Proposals you reject cost nothing beyond the run.
Limits and privacy of AI processing
- Ask and Find & replace work on the document's text layer; scanned pages must be OCR'd first (this happens on upload).
- Very long documents are processed in sections; answers may cite several pages.
- Document text is sent to the AI provider only when you use these tools, only for that request, and is not used to train models. Details are in Security & privacy and the Privacy Policy.
- The acceptable-use rules in the Terms apply: these tools may not be used to alter records with intent to mislead.
